A pathway out of recurring crisis. Serving Anchorage since 1965, with no government funding we are supported entirely by private donations, at no cost to anyone who walks through the door.
OUR MISSION
Practical help. Lasting transformation.
Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission is a Christian ministry that demonstrates the love of Jesus Christ through shelter, recovery, support, and practical care.
For many people, the journey begins with a hot meal or a safe place to sleep. Most nights, we provide shelter for about 100 people, and our kitchen serves approximately 10000+ meals each month, every day of the year.
But we offer more than emergency relief. Through Christ-centered recovery programs, life-skills development, accountability, work, discipleship, and ongoing support, people can move toward stability, purpose, independence, and lasting life transformation.
What begins with a meal, a bed, or even a visit to the clothing room can become a life made new.

- Overnight emergency shelter, about 100 beds

- Clothing room: work clothing, street clothing, and children’s clothing and winter wear for neighborhood families

LifeSkills is a full year of counseling, classes, work, and daily accountability.

Campus Tours
Personal and group tours run the first Thursday of each month, and at other times as available. Bring your family, your small group, or your board. We'll walk you through the kitchen, the dorms, and the classrooms where the year actually happens.
Speakers in the Community
Our staff will come to your church, business, or organization and talk about the work, the people in it, and what a year of recovery actually looks like. We've spoken to first responders, schools, congregations, and Mission partners.

Citygate Network is North America’s oldest and largest community of independent, faith-based crisis shelters and life-transformation centers. Its members work to move people out of desperate situations, hungry, homeless, abused, and addicted, and toward flourishing.
Member organizations are staffed by followers of Jesus, and share a foundational belief that Jesus of Nazareth was fully God and fully man, and that his sinless life, death, burial, and resurrection are the basis for living according to God’s plan.
